AAPI Workers Make Up Fast-Growing Share of Unionized Workforce

Asian American and Pacific Islander workers now make up one of the fastest-growing groups in the unionized workforce, according to a new report released in July 25. The report was conducted by the Center for Economic and Policy Research and the Center for Labor Research and Education at the University of California, Los Angeles.

In 2010, one in 20 U.S. union members were AAPI, up from one in 40 two decades earlier. More than twice as many AAPI workers are in unions than are self-employed.
