This Sunday, 45,000 Verizon workers, members of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), went on strike when their collective bargaining agreement expired. Management has continued to bargain in bad faith, demanding several concessions that will result in huge cuts to their employees’ wages and benefits, while their CEOs continue to make record breaking profits, without having to pay a penny in taxes!
APALA-DC stands in solidarity with our union brothers and sisters at Verizon, as they fight for just wages and dignity on the job. As the working class continues to be the target of special interests and corporate greed, it is important for us to continue to stand united. Here are a few things you can do to support the workers at Verizon:
1. Sign this petition to stop Verizon’s corporate greed.
2. Join the rally this Saturday, Aug. 13th: 11am to 1pm at 1314 F St, NW (Metro Center)
3. Donate to the Strike Fund. You can make donations online or send a check to Community Services Agency, AFL-CIO, 16th St NW suite 520, Washington, DC 20006.
*Make sure to put “Verizon Strike Fund” in the designation box or check memo line.
